Because God is love, the leading characteristic of those in whom God lives will be love.  Why is it then that the leading actions of those of us who claim to know God often are the opposite of love?  The apostle John must have noticed this same problem during his lifetime because he wrote, “Dear children, let us stop just saying we love each other; let us really show it by our actions.” (1 John 3:18, NLT)  Before getting in specific application of what it means to love and how to love, let us wrestle with the fact that love is the greatest quality and highest outcome of God’s life overtaking our life.  If love is not the fruit of our lives, then something is wrong.  If love is not oozing out of us, then we must stop denying the reality and begin searching for the reason.  Perhaps we need to be freed from sin, hurt and oppression that is keeping us from being the person God has destined us to be.  Does it matter if we are “living the dream” in life when we are bankrupt in love?  Ask yourself: Is love the leading quality of my life?

Prayer Point

How do you pray?

From my experience in leading people in prayer for the past 20 years, I would say that the majority of people lack confidence in how to pray.  The scriptures give us clear teaching about prayer; however, prayer is not something that is learned only by studying about it.  Prayer is learned by doing.  My encouragement to you is to apply these principles in your times of personal and group prayer.  The Lord will meet you as you diligently seek Him.
