This past weekend we celebrated the life of a dear saint, Betty Snyder, who went to be with the Lord last week.  She leaves a legacy of family and friends who have been impacted by her Christ-likeness.  Yet, there was one character quality of hers that I particularly noticed and was impacted with myself as I listened to those who testified to her life.  That was that Betty had the habit of immediately recognizing something good about others and telling them right away rather than waiting until later.  This reminds me of the verse from Philippians 4:8 which says, "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things." 

What a tremendous legacy - to be known for thinking and speaking about things that are worthy of praise.  May we be the kind of Christ-followers who reflect this character quality as we encourage each other toward love and good deeds.

Prayer Point

How do you pray?

From my experience in leading people in prayer for the past 20 years, I would say that the majority of people lack confidence in how to pray.  The scriptures give us clear teaching about prayer; however, prayer is not something that is learned only by studying about it.  Prayer is learned by doing.  My encouragement to you is to apply these principles in your times of personal and group prayer.  The Lord will meet you as you diligently seek Him.
