Our church – The Connecting Church (Milton Seventh Day Baptist) – functions as a local body of Christ, a covenant community. Every member is important. Every member is unique. Every single one of us is here because God has called us. Every one of us hears from God. He has a purpose for us both as individuals and as a body. And together we are much more than the sum of our parts.

Our church has recently been examining the research showing that 60 to 90% of all church-going kids disengage from their faith as young adults. Also, parents are by far the greatest influence in a child's spiritual life. And although parents are the most influential in passing on the faith, the research ironically reflects that parents have had quite a low impact in actually carrying over that faith into the home. However, this is not due to parents being disinterested. Almost every parent has a desire to become a better parent, but often does not know how to bring faith into the home and into their everyday lives. And even parents who already share their faith with their children have a desire to go to the next level.

We have many hopes and dreams for our children. Like many of you, my biggest hope for our children is that they each enter into a personal relationship with Jesus and follow closely to Him throughout their lives. We know that if they are close to Christ, they will be able to handle anything that comes their way.

A “Christian worldview” is a comprehensive conception of the world from a Christian perspective. Researcher George Barna used the following survey to determine American’s “Christian Worldview.” Take the following survey and see how many questions you agree with:
Are there absolute moral truths? (right vs. wrong, truth vs. error)
Is absolute truth defined by the Bible?
Did Jesus Christ live a sinless life?

Faith@Home is a rapidly growing movement that is redefining Family Ministry in churches across the world. It is a movement that seeks to spread the vision and equip parents to fulfill their role as the most influential force in passing on a lifelong faith to their children. Faith@Home is not a program or a sermon series or the latest Christian fad. It is a move of the Spirit of God which is drawing people back to His plan for growing faith which starts at home. Deuteronomy 6:6-7 says, “These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” According to God’s Word, faith begins at home.

Join the congregation in December on Sabbath mornings at 8:00 and 11:00 a.m. and on Christmas Eve at 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. to learn how Zechariah, Mary, Joseph and the shepherds heard God, had a crisis of belief, had to make adjustments to their lives, and then obey the voice of God.

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all (2 Corinthians 13:14). Sabbath morning after the sermon, after the last notes of the final hymn – my mind begins to focus on what will happen next – Grow Groups, Treats that Tie, a quick word I need to have with someone, gathering up my stuff, finding the kids.
I have a habit of disengaging and barely listening to the last part of the service. What you say? Is there something after the last hymn?

Lately, I’ve been reading and rereading Mark 4:26-29 [Jesus said] The kingdom of God is as if a man should scatter seed on the ground. He sleeps and rises night and day, and the seed sprouts and grows; he knows not how. The earth produces by itself, first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear. But when the grain is ripe, at once he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.
Along with Ephesians 3:20 [God] is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us..
When we do our part (in service or in prayer), amazing things happen. But they don’t necessarily happen where we can observe them. Instead, they often happen while our attention is elsewhere.

Question: Who prays? Answer: Everyone prays. It is a natural part of the created order of things. Because God is our creator, we pray. He has hard-wired prayer into our makeup. Yet, it is wrong to assume that everyone knows how to pray in such a way that they make a real connection with God. Sin has so crossed our wires that the understanding and practice of prayer can vary greatly from person to person.

Baptism: June 4 at 10:00 a.m. There will be no Sabbath School on June 4 be-cause everyone is invited to be a witness to those being baptized. Since Jesus was bap-tized, almost 2,000 years ago, baptism has been the signifier of membership in God‟s fami-ly. This is important as it conveys that we are not only free from the guilt of sin, but that we have also entered into a new relationship as adopted children of God.

Jesus was very clear about the mission he left his followers prior to his departure. “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.
